The Manitoba District Council primary office is located on Treaty 1 Territory, the traditional territory of the Anishinaabek, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Dene, and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. We acknowledge that Winnipeg’s water is sourced from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation. The Manitoba District Council’s work extends throughout Treaties 2, 3, 4 and 5, and we acknowledge northern Manitoba includes lands that are the ancestral lands of the Inuit. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.
